Applications for the Eighth Edition 2027 of the Farouk Hosny Foundation for Culture & Arts Arts Awards are submitted through the competition registration page at (http://apply.faroukhosnyfoundation.org).
Painting Award Competition – 2027
The Painting Award Competition aims to provide artists with an opportunity to showcase their ability to create innovative works of art and express humanistic ideas. Each artist is encouraged to demonstrate a distinctive personal style in addressing human, historical, or conceptual themes through artistic expression.
Competition Guidelines

Applicants must be Egyptian nationals and between 18 and 40 years of age as of December 31, 2026.

Submitted artworks must be paintings executed exclusively using watercolor, oil, acrylic, or mixed media. No side of the artwork may be less than 80 cm or exceed 120 cm, including the outer frame.

Submitted artworks must be original and not copied, and must have been produced no earlier than 2024. Applicants must own all intellectual and creative rights to their works, which should demonstrate innovation, creativity, and originality.

Each applicant must submit two artworks. Applicants who advance to the final stages will have one artwork selected for exhibition.

Applicants must provide a brief statement explaining the concept behind the submitted artworks, not exceeding 150 words.

Applicants may optionally upload a portfolio containing images of up to 10 previous artworks. The portfolio must not include any personal details or information that could identify the applicant.

Applicants may optionally provide a link to their previous artworks, whether on a personal website or through platforms such as Instagram, Behance, Pinterest, Facebook, or similar platforms.

Submitted artworks must not be graduation projects and must not have been previously exhibited or entered in any local or international exhibitions or competitions, including virtual exhibitions, nor have received any other awards or been previously presented to any judging panel.

Images of the submitted artworks uploaded through the application form must be in JPG format, clear, high-quality, high-resolution, and suitable for publication and printing. Each image must be between 5 MB and 10 MB, with its longest side measuring at least 2,000 pixels and a resolution of no less than 300 dpi.

Sculpture Award Competition – 2027
The Sculpture Award Competition aims to encourage young artists to develop ideas rooted in research and experimentation, move beyond conventional approaches, and present unique and contemporary artistic visions.
Competition Topic
Together… Existence is founded on the principle of harmony between dualities: movement is only complete through stillness, strength is understood through its opposite, and reason and emotion together create human balance. From this harmony emerges the energy of life that gives things their presence and vitality.
In sculpture, this concept is embodied in the relationship between mass and void, light and shadow, stillness and movement. The value of a sculptural work lies not in its mass alone, but in the visual dialogue between contrasting elements; a dialogue that creates rhythm and balance and gives the form its expressive presence.
The essence of form lies in the search for this subtle balance, where inert matter is transformed into a vibrant entity that expresses life and embodies its inner energy. Sculpture thus becomes a visual language that reveals the unity of opposites within a single, cohesive form.
Competition Guidelines

Applicants must be Egyptian nationals and between 18 and 40 years of age as of December 31, 2026.

The submitted artwork must be an original three-dimensional sculptural work aligned with the competition theme, “Together.” The applicant must own all intellectual and creative rights to the work. It must have been produced no earlier than 2024 and demonstrate originality and innovation.

Applicants may submit a maximum of two artworks. If an applicant advances to the final stages, only one artwork will be selected for exhibition.

If a prototype of the artwork is submitted, it must be three-dimensional and executed using actual materials.

The artwork must be structurally balanced and stable. Applicants must provide a brief description of the materials, dimensions, and techniques used, as well as their relationship to the concept of the work.

Applicants must upload a short 360-degree video showing the artwork from all angles, with a maximum duration of 30 seconds.

The submitted artwork must not have previously received any local or international awards.

Applicants must upload three (3) photographs from different angles of each submitted artwork. Images must be in JPG format, clear, high-quality, high-resolution, and suitable for publication and printing. Art Critique Award Competition – 2027
The competition aims to enrich the field of art critique by encouraging young people to deepen their ability to study and analyze the aesthetics of visual art. In doing so, it seeks to foster a new generation of critics capable of engaging with the richness and diversity of the visual arts scene, while enhancing artistic and aesthetic awareness among the public.
Competition Guidelines

Applicants must be Egyptian nationals and between 21 and 40 years of age as of December 31, 2026.

The submitted study must be original and recent and address the competition theme: “Contemporary Critical Approaches and Their Applications in Visual Arts.”

The study must be written in Arabic and supported by images of relevant artworks. It must contain between 1,500 and 3,000 words and include a brief introduction outlining the research concept, as well as a conclusion summarizing the findings.

The study should demonstrate originality, innovation, breadth of perspective, intellectual and creative depth, as well as accuracy and proficiency in language.
-
The study must have a clear and precise title that reflects its content and objectives. All sources, references, and figures used must be properly documented and cited.

The study must not be generated using artificial intelligence, plagiarized, or derived from a master’s or doctoral thesis, and must comply with all applicable intellectual property laws.

The study must not have previously received an award in any local or international competition, nor may it be submitted for another award at the same time.

Each applicant may submit only one study, and the submitted document must not contain any marks, references, or information that could reveal the applicant’s identity.

The critical study must be uploaded as a Microsoft Word document, using Simplified Arabic font at 14-point size. Images of artworks accompanying the study must be submitted in JPEG format and must be clear, high-quality, high-resolution, and suitable for publication and printing. Each image must be between 5 MB and 10 MB, with its longest side measuring at least 2,000 pixels and a resolution of no less than 300 dpi.

Architecture Award Competition – 2027
Competition Topic
Society has, over an extended period, lost a significant degree of its social cohesion as a result of economic, social, and political changes that have negatively affected social behavior in general, impacting the concepts of dialogue and participation. At the same time, the effective role of public spaces in addressing this challenge and reconnecting and embracing social relationships has diminished. Furthermore, many emerging technologies have yet to be utilized to their full potential in supporting architects in fulfilling their responsibility to enhance quality of life within their communities.
The competition therefore aims to encourage young architects to employ Artificial Intelligence technologies based on inputs derived from the nature, culture, and environment of their communities, integrating these technologies with their own design thinking and philosophy to address real urban and architectural challenges.
It is important to emphasize that Artificial Intelligence is a supportive tool for the creative architect, not a substitute for them, with the ultimate goal of “Enhancing Quality of Life in Public Spaces,” in line with the competition theme:
“The Plaza… A Meeting Place | Architecture/Urbanism and Artificial Intelligence.”
Competition Guidelines

Applicants must be Egyptian nationals and must not be over 40 years of age as of January 1, 2027.

The competition is open to architects who are members of the Egyptian Engineers Syndicate. In the case of team submissions, the team may include students from architecture faculties, provided that the team representative is an architect and a member of the Egyptian Engineers Syndicate. The team may also include members from related disciplines, provided that the total number of team members does not exceed four (4).

All submissions must comply with the Terms of Reference (TOR) and all competition rules and requirements.

Submitted projects must be original and not copied or adapted from other works. They must demonstrate innovation, creativity, and originality, be produced by the applicant(s), and all intellectual property rights must be owned by the applicant(s).

Each applicant or team may submit only one project.
-
Submitted projects must not include the applicant’s name, team members’ names, or any information or indication that could reveal their identities.

Applicants must submit a document explaining the approach and methodology used in applying Artificial Intelligence as a tool supporting their design concept, philosophy, and studies. This will be considered an important evaluation criterion.

Applicants must submit a visual presentation with voice-over narration explaining the project, with a maximum duration of 5 minutes. The applicants must not appear in the presentation.

Applicants may optionally submit an animated presentation of the project, with a maximum duration of 120 seconds.

The submitted design must be recent, must not have previously received any awards in local or international competitions, and must not have been previously used for any commercial purpose.

The project must be presented on six (6) landscape A1 boards (84 × 59.4 cm), compiled into a single high-quality PDF file with a resolution of no less than 300 dpi.

A report in Arabic or English, not exceeding 2,000 words, must be submitted on A4-size pages. The report should present and explain the design concept and the studies undertaken by the applicant. If the project qualifies for the semi-final stage, the applicant will be required to print the presentation boards and the report.

Photography Award Competition – 2027
The Photography Award Competition aims to provide young photographers, both professionals and amateurs, with an opportunity to showcase their ability to create photographic works that move beyond conventional approaches and present unique creative perspectives that inspire new ways of seeing.
While technical excellence and production quality are important evaluation criteria, the competition seeks above all to recognize photography that is innovative, visually compelling, and thought-provoking.
Competition Guidelines

Applicants must be Egyptian nationals and between 18 and 40 years of age as of December 31, 2026.

The competition is open to professional and amateur photographers across all fields of artistic photography, including direct and experimental photography, provided that the images are not artificially generated and that the applicant owns all intellectual and creative rights to the submitted works.

Submitted photographs must be taken by the applicant and must be recent, having been produced no earlier than 2025. All components and elements of the photographs must demonstrate innovation, creativity, and originality, moving beyond conventional approaches. The Jury reserves the right to request clarification regarding the techniques and tools used in producing the work to verify its authenticity.

Applicants may submit a maximum of three (3) photographs. If an applicant advances to the final stages, the Jury may select only one photograph for exhibition.

Applicants must provide a link to the original image file (e.g., RAW format) as part of the application form, using a file-sharing platform such as Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, or similar services.

Photographs featuring the applicant in a self-portrait, revealing the applicant’s identity, or containing any text, signature, or identifying marks will not be accepted. In addition, submitted works must not have previously been entered into any local or international competitions, received any awards, or been presented to any judging panel.

If a photograph qualifies for the semi-final stage, it must be submitted as a high-quality photographic print with professional finishing. The longest side of the printed photograph must measure 50 cm, and the photograph must be presented in a plain, flat black glass frame with a width of 2 cm.
