The Board of Trustees of the Farouk Hosny Foundation Decides to Double the Value of the Grand Merit Award

Cairo, Monday 9 October 2023

Yesterday, Sunday, 8 October 2023, the Board of Trustees of the
Farouk Hosny Foundation for Culture and Arts convened at the Foundation’s
headquarters in Zamalek.

During the meeting, the Board discussed the Foundation’s
future plan, directions and mandates throughout the upcoming year 2024. The
Board members also deliberated the most important fields on which the
Foundation will focus its attention. They agreed that all of the Foundation’s
activities will target talented and creative young artists who need support and
accolade to become more creative and innovative
.

The Board of Trustees decided to double the value of the
Grand Merit Award to
200 thousand Egyptian pounds, which is granted to eminent figures
who have enriched Egypt’s cultural and artistic arenas in appreciation and
honor of their remarkable achievements
.

The Board also discussed the possibility of organizing many
cultural and artistic events and activities in the coming period.

The Board meeting was attended by Artist Minister Farouk Hosny,
Businessman Engineer Naguib Sawiris; Dr. Zahi Hawass, Archaeologist and Former
Minister of Antiquities; Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Former Director of the Library of
Alexandria; Writer Mohamed Salmawy; Dr. Moamena Kamel; Mr. Tamer Auf, Former
Adviser to the Prime Minister; Writer Elham Aboul Fateh; TV Presenter Jasmine
Taha Zaki; Mrs. Enas Louqa; Dr. Aleya Abdel Hadi, Former Dean of the Faculty of
Architecture and Arts, University of Petra, Jordan; and Poet Wael El-Simary.

It is noteworthy that the Farouk Hosny Foundation for Culture
and Arts is a registered independent foundation founded in 2019. It is a
non-profit NGO that focuses on artistic and cultural activities and the various
creative disciplines and cultural components based on the concept that culture
is capable of absorbing all human creative practices
and developing humanity.

It is worth mentioning that the Foundation announced last
September the launch of the fifth round of the Arts Awards for the year 2024 in
the fields of (photography, painting, architecture, sculpture, art critique, and
photography) with awards amounting to half a million Egyptian pounds
